Bravo! Thanks for investing in the African American filmmaking community. Every culture has a distinct experience that needs to be told from their living experience, and not from someone who has no clue about that extremely personal and cultural experience. I will subscribe to your print and your digital editions, very excited about this publication!
I love African American Filmmaker Magazine! I purchased the first issue online and absolutely loved it. It was so awesome to find information and stories that I wanted to read about but rarely saw in mainstream media.
Yes!! It was a pleasant surprise to hear about this wonderful magazine from a producer friend of mine. This is so needed!! My team will support you all the way to the top!!
Filmmaking is filmmaking for sure. But when you can see people who look like you are doing their magic on the set, it instills a sense of pride in you. Rarely does a black filmmaker get to see so much coverage of independent filmmakers and intelligent commentary on the black and overall Hollywood scene.
I love this magazine. Although what I saw was the digital copy, I could tell the print copy would be just as great if not greater. And when I received my premiere issue in the mail, it exceeded all my expectations. This magazine makes me proud to be a filmmaker and even more so to be a filmmaker who just happens to be African American.
There is nothing like controlling your likeness, because when others control it, they seem to always get it wrong. Even if they mean no harm, a false narrative is still a false narrative, and words and images do matter. This magazine is awesome, and I can wait to see it grow into even more greatness. It’s a magazine clearly for everyone, but it’s nice to be included and not excluded from our achievements in the filmmaking world.
Thanks for giving us a voice, and a narrative that inspires and empowers as the mission statement said it was created to do. Now, we must support this publication and quit depending on others to support what we should be lining up in droves to support. I’m in!
Finally! Yes, finally there is a media entity that is about inclusiveness regarding the contributions by African Americans in the world of motion pictures that can be shared worldwide! Thanks for being bold and fabulous in your display of publishing our stories to the world. So awesome!
